Purpose of Position

The Controller is a leader and strategic thinker who directs the organization's accounting functions by establishing and maintaining the overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies. Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of financial results according to IFRS. Manages the production of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, monitors results monthly, researches variances and presents findings and recommendations to management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis.
  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data utilizing a combination of SAP and Excel to determine trends and /or significant changes.
  • Understand other foreign currency transactions.
  • Support operating departments with data and analysis with the intention of improving results on a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Assists with evaluation, reporting and control of Capital Expenditure projects.
  • Develop, analyze and update standard cost rates at manufacturing plants.
  • On time in full preparation of accurate financial statements, reports and analyses.
  • Interpret analysis and recommended solutions and / or actions.
  • Develop and formulate financial policies and procedures.
  • Supervise, train and evaluate staff performance.
  • Must have experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • ERP experience required.  SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Understanding of IFRS requirements.
  • Experience with global companies strongly preferred.
  • Must understand implications of multiple currencies.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with all levels within an organization.
  • Motivated, self-starter who is capable of embracing change at a moment’s notice.
  • Pro-active solution thinking, convince by arguments.
