We have partnered with a Global Automotive Parts Manufacturer in NW Ohio to lead a search for their Controller position. Our client is the leading manufacturer of their product in the world and this role will will have responsibility for all financial activities across the company to include accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, cash flow and working capital management

Controller – (job description)
  • Department: Finance - Reports To: President/CFO     
  • FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt Approved By: President/CFO     
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
Reporting to the President, the Controller will have will have responsibility for all financial activities across the company to include accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, cash flow and working capital management. In addition to these traditional accounting and financial management responsibilities, the Controller is a critically important member of the senior management team and a key business partner to the President. Importantly, the Controller will also work closely with the leadership team to create a more metrics driven business environment. As such, the Controller will be a key leader in the company and have the following specific responsibilities.
  • Establishes, or recommends to management, major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company 
  • Serves as a strategic business partner to the President and to the senior management team while working across the business to build relationships and help drive an aggressive business process improvement and growth agenda 
  • Establishes and monitors sound financial controls 
  • Values inventory appropriately – including establishing standard costs in conjunction with Engineering and Purchasing, monitoring Excess and Obsolete inventory levels, and recording and monitoring variances to standard 
  • Forecasts and controls cash usage to support corporate debt reduction goals
  • Forecasts and controls pricing 
  • Evaluates the profitability of quotes to new and existing customers
  • Recommends modifications to existing corporate programs 
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of revenue, income, expenses, and working capital, based on past, present, and expected operations. 
  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification 
  • Work closely with the CFO, financial advisors and external auditors to effectively manage the company’s balance sheet, evaluate and seize opportunities to most efficiently fund and growth business, and ensure the company maintains strong internal controls
  • Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities
  • Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Supports the corporate audit of company's accounts
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Practices good housekeeping and safety techniques
  • Complies with all safety policies and procedures

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience as a controller in a small to medium-sized manufacturing environment is highly desirable

 Computer Skills                      
  • Working knowledge of FAS Fixed Asset Software
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Package 
  • AS400 and JD Edwards or similar ERP system experience a plus
